"I've just recently returned from 3 months travel in China, Nepal & the U.S.A. & have nowhere found any coffee as fine as that of the Midnight Sun Roasters, or any served with the kind of open friendliness that is found in the coffee shop. Hat's off!"
Dick Person, Teslin, Yukon

OK Fans
"Hot as hell. Pure as an angel. Black as night(or white as snow). Sweet as honey. That's how we like our Midnight Sun coffee down here in the Thompson/Okanagan. Your Organic Dark French is simply the best. Our Roasters in Kamloops might learn something..."
Minnie Lethbridge & Rafe Battle,Kamloops,B.C.

you're still the one
"Hi Zola,We've been in Hazelton for almost a year now and we love it here. We haven't found coffee here that we like as much as yours... We were very happy to find your web site and put in our order, and we'll be even happier to have our first cup."
Beth Larsen (formerly of Atlin B.C.)

And the Award goes to...
"I went to Yukon is 1980 and opened the first espresso bar there in 1981.
Over time I have used beans from some of the largest and best known roasters
in Canada and even tried beans imported from Italy. When Zola started the
Midnight Sun however, I found the very best coffees ever and have been a
vocal fan since. I moved to Vancouver in August of 2000 and try as I might
have not found a roaster here; large or small to match the quality of
Midnight Sun. Zola's coffees are simply the best anywhere and the Yukon
should give thanks to have this genius of a roaster living in the land of
midnight fun.

Chris and Chantal and Coffee
"I wanted to let you know how we found out about your shop. It is a
testament to the power of word of mouth. We first sampled your coffee
from a former employee of yours, Chantal, who was dating my brother
Chris. We had heard about your shop through Chris, but it was really
great to try the coffee, especially when made by Chantal. Chris has
since passed away, but recently I won some of your coffee at a Peters
Drury Trio concert here in P.G. It made me think of Chris and Chantal
and your little roasterie all over again! And, as luck would have it you
have included your web address on the labels. So this is how I have come
to buy your coffee, and I look forward to drinking it soon.
Cheers! "

VAYA CON DIOS FROM ROANOKE
"Hi-- have just this minute cyber-spaced you an order. However, I really
wanted to congratulate you on the excellence of your coffee. This will
be our third order--the first one ordered by me, second by Anne Carr
(same address) and now this order.
Each time we have ordered one lb of the Bushwacker (super!) and 1 lb of
another. All have been wonderful.
It seems very odd to me, and perhaps you, that we live 2 hours from
Toronto, but, apart from the dubious offerings of Second Cup, we have a
heck of a time finding good coffee roasted in my lifetime!
We found you through Anne's daughter, Jessica Simon, who lives in
Whitehorse. She sent us, for Christmas, some of your coffee and now
we're hooked! It seems to take us about 3 weeks to use a pound, (we
generally only drink one cup each per day, although I could drink a
couple of gallons.) So we will be ordering about every 5 weeks so we
don't run out. Keep up the great work. We love your coffee and
appreciate the effort required to produce a quality product.
Here's to a great cuppa joe!! Sincerely, Lila Jackson and Anne Carr

Not to mention the cookies, eh
"of all the things I miss about the Yukon one of the things I miss most
is your coffee and the friendly atmosphere of your shop."
Robert Close

Aw, 'yur makin' me blush!
"I've really tried to drink other coffee....since I'm now on the other
side of the country, but I just can't. In fact, everyone who tries it
over here is hooked on it! So, I think you should move to Ontario! I
miss it all, the people, the java juice, and most of all everyone's
favourite Java goddess, Zola. There's never been a better lady! The
most fabulous establishment this country's ever seen. It's worth the
drive to Whitehorse. "
Vanessa Marshak, biggest fan!!

FRIENDLY NEIGHBOUR!
"seriously, i think your coffee is one step beyond
heaven. i dont mean to gush, and i am not usually one
of those people who gets religious about products or
companies. BUT... i am somewhat of a fanatic about
your coffee. i had it first in haines (sells at the
health food store there) and then eventually straight
from you in w.h.
in case you're wondering, it's the martha's black
that changed my life, specifically. made me give up on
trying to NOT be a coffee snob, and throw myself whole
hog into extreme snob-dom. perhaps coffee worship IS
wrong, but if it is, and we all go to hell for it, at
least we'll be together. and the temperature might
just be perfect down there for you-know-what...
so..errr...having already used up a sizable chunk of
your time for the reading of this volume sized email,
i will sign out here. and say in ending,
THANK YOU for roasting a life changing bean, and
THANK YOU for your northern way of sending my coffee
to me before you even have the payment.
i am forever in your debt, and etenally grateful.
and if coffee worship is a sin, may we roast together
down under."
Meadow Bejarano, Cordova AK

Some people have all the luck
"I had a real quickie vacation in Whitehorse recently and accidentally (and luckily) discovered the Midnight Sun. I enjoyed several cups of Organic Sumatran, and I tell people that M.S. has the best coffee in Western Canada. I'd say Canada, period, but I haven't been to Nfld. or PEI yet although I doubt there's any better.
In addition, the cookies were great and the staff was, to a woman, as friendly as I have encountered anywhere.
Thanks for your product."
Steven Lidkea, Markdale, Ontario

Artist's palette appreciated
"so here I am, late on a Thursday night...finishing off some crap in the office and I thought to myself, what can I eat or drink before I head home for the night? Then it dawned on me that I had not tried the Midnght Special...
Well...just finished brewing a mug full and had to give you a report, WOW!!!very nice. I like the colour, very dark, very strong with no signs of fading around the rim. A mild bouquet on the nose, pleasant with no hints of extreme roasting...perhaps done on a low flame...In the mouth, extremely smooth with a medium to full body taste, nonetheless, very smooth. There's a hint of mocha and green tea, a little surprising considering that it had an acid-like smell to the grinds prior to brewing. On the palette, there is an oil like rapture around the tongue that finishes off extremely smooth and without a strong after-taste. It leaves a firm taste of the bean but never bitter...unlike that charcoal-tar bitter taste associated with Mr. Starbuck's. A very, very lovely after dinner coffee...and I think I'll just put it back in case and take it home with me now.
Okay, so I'm rating this like a red wine...it's that anal retentive hobby of mine. My only dilemma now is...do I brew another mug and make it a real MIDNIGHT ALL NIGHT Special? or do I wait till morning and try it with a french press style..."

"EXTREME" coffee lovers
"Hello
Taking the opportunity to thank you for the coffee sample that you provided we racers (Raid the North - Yukon).
Took the sample and lasted over the weekend (one cup coffee maker), brought back some fine memories of Midnight Sun. Great shop you have there, enjoyed every cup in the warm atmosphere.
Cheers
"

No, really, thank YOU!
"I am really looking forward to getting your shipment, but with some trepidation. After all the raving I've done about your coffee, I have to make it right or everybody will think I'm losing my grip. I know it will be better than what we get around here though. Just today at work a guy was talking about how much he likes some brand, "it's better than Folger's". I kind of said neither one is all that good, but I guess most folks haven't had a cup of really good coffee. (God, I'm turning into a snob. Thanks a lot Zola) You say that even the beans will begin to go stale after a week or so, but people buy huge cans of ground coffee that take weeks to use up. How can it possibly be good? I hope they don't put any kind of preservative crap in it.

I was roaming around your website, and read about all the community things you support. I think that's really terrific of you Zola, I'm glad to be able to contribute in my small way. I'll order more in future, and if I can turn anyone else on to Midnight Sun, well, bonus, right? And by the way, it's 'Ontarion'.

Long live the queen!

You Rock!
"The first time I tasted your coffee was two years ago shortly after arriving in Whitehorse. I fell in love instantly! For two years I was spoiled, and now that I've relocated South, I missed it desperately. Last night I spoke with a friend of mine, John Lawson, and he told me I could order it via the web! So, I've done exactly that, but just wanted to take a moment to thank you for making that option available. Now I can have a cup whenever I want and feed this crazy addiction....
You Rock!"
Renee Emond

Sharing is good for your Karma
"My parents went to Alaska last summer & brought back a bag of your coffee for me (Bushwackers blend). OINK!!! I have NEVER had coffee that good!
Seriously!
Of course, it has taken me a year to get around to checking out your site, but alas, here I am. I plan on purchasing your coffee as often as is possible & sharing it with my friends.
Keep up the GREAT product!

What's up with coffee in T.O.?
"Folks,
My wife and I visited the Yukon for three fabulous weeks in June of this year. To say we enjoyed it immeasurably would be an understatement. But what we enjoyed almost as much as the spectacular scenery and people was the coffee at Midnight Sun. It is indeed heavenly. In fact, I'm going to order some online right now!
"

How to get the good stuff...
"

Lindsay

Better than bills in the mail!
"We discovered your coffee when Paul was working in Whitehorse in June 2000 and we tell anyone we know visiting Whitehorse to check out your place. Wish you could send the espresso milkshakes by mail too!"
Paul,Lori,Jeryn & Liam

better than a palm pilot
"I cannot WAIT to get my shipment sent to New Jersey!! I have had the pleasure of bringing your coffee back with me after each of my three trips to Whitehorse and just decided to check to see if I could order it on-line! I have NEVER found coffee roasted quite this way anywhere near me. Sam McGee's does its name absolute justice!! I even ordered a T-shirt to remind me
to order when I run out!!
Yippee!! Sherri Clyman, Westmont, NJ"
Sherri Clyman

All fired up
"In September 2002 I per chanced upon coffee from The Midnight Sun coffee roasters. I was at Patrick Royle's Raku pottery party in Whitehorse, and being as I am from New Zealand I thought it was a titch cold. I was overjoyed to see some thermos's of coffee with the spread of food. I expected it to be bitter but warm. Much to my amazement it was this incredible brew with body and flavour! It warmed up my body and hence my soul.
Once again I am in the Yukon and one of my first stops was the Midnight Sun. I highly recommend this as a place to visit in Whitehorse."
Nancy Doherty, Auckland, New Zealand

Not so crazy after all...
"Looking forward to get your coffee in my hands!!
People around here think I'm a little crazy when I say I order my coffee from the Yukon but what can I say! It's my favourite!! It sooooooooo makes my day!
All the best!
"
Danielle Hebert, Vancouver, B.C.

Good to the last bean
"Hello!

My friend Sherri from Westmont bought me a pound of Muleskinner's Blend with her last order, and I am very impressed. I can't say for sure that it is the best coffee I've ever had, but I can say that it is the best coffee I've ever made! Since that first pound barely had time to see the inside of my kitchen I've just ordered a 5 pound bag.

"
Dave K., Moorestown, NJ, USA

Apt Pupil
"I'm living in Brazil on student exchange, and you'd think this part of the world would introduce me to a whole new coffee experience, but all the way down here a cup of Chocolate Chai or a regular cup 'o joe at the Midnight Sun sounds better than anything I can find here. There is nothing in our beautiful little town that has more character and quality than this coffee shop. I miss my Midnight Sun!"
Erin

Ya gotta have Faith...
" Dear Zola: I'm truly sorry, but today I was unfaithful to you.
I was down in Guelph and there was a coffee shop there called Planet Bean. It had fair trade and organic signs out front, and when I went in there was an antique Probat roaster inside the door. So, I was tempted.
And weak.

Geez, what a mistake! Might as well have gone to Charbucks. You'd think I'd know by now. I guess just having your own roaster doesn't mean you know what to do with it.
"
Steven Lidkea

Mama Mia!
"WOW... Found your roaster this fall 2007 while on holidays Up North. Coming from a Italian family of serious coffee drinkers, I was very impressed with your coffee. I brought home coffee for family & friends, as I thought it was a hit. I am now putting in my first order. Keep up the good work. "
Brenda from B.C.

Bears and Beans
"Hello,I took a one day flight to Churchill Manitoba on Air North with Classic Tours yesterday to see the polar bears. The coffee served was the best I have had in a hundred years, and I kept asking for refills. It was suggested that I contact your site as listed on your coffee cup, and hope I will be able to order the same blend---unless of course that is a secret! If so, which coffee blend would be my next best choice to enjoy?
Our Answer: Klondike Gold is served on all Air North flights! THAT'S Northern hospitality for you!!

The Bushwhacker
"Let me tell you my experience with the Bushwacker . I woke up this morning already dreaming about this surprise waiting for me in the kitchen. He was the only thing that could get me out of bed. Slowly, he introduced himself with a dark, deep voice and a strong body. "Oh My!" I said to myself. " The smell of this manly fragrance make all my senses going crazy". Good thing I was alone cause I wouldn't want to share it with anyone. Thanks to Katya, to help me going through two months of abstinence. But the way, do you have a poster that I can glue to the ceiling on the top of my bed. Don't take it personal if I don't answer the phone in the morning anymore, too busy!!"
